I had a mother and father once. I went to school, played football, took piano lessons. My teacher said my head was always in the clouds, that I was a dreamer.
Maybe that is why they called to me. Whispered and sang to me until I followed them. Their voices were so sweet, I let them take me. Whisk me away. My mom and dad don’t miss me because they don’t even know I am gone. The fairy boy took my place. Is living my life.
When I first arrived, I cried every day. But they painted me and gave wings, and sang and sang until I can only just hold on to the memories of my own life.
Someday, they tell me, I will take the place of another boy. I will take his life. Will call, whisper, and sing until he loses himself like I did.
